Diaspora Collective was established in March 2009, originally as a group of musicians exploring traditional Afro-Cuban and African repertoire, which soon expanded to Brazilian and other Latin American styles of music, and integrating them with jazz, funk, pop and contemporary world music styles.
Its flagship project, Diáspora, combined all of these influences; a large ensemble that appeared at festivals, showcases and private / corporate events, earning fantastic critical acclaim from some of the UK's top venues and clients. Related projects within Diaspora Collective involve members of Diáspora appearing in different formats and setups.
Diaspora Collective expanded their range of projects, performances and events, and offered artists and promoters a unique service for showcasing jazz and world music, through its successor, Red & Black Music.
